Everyone seem to be happy with the new songs, congratulations. But I have to be a little critical, because I don´t like this american countrie folk style your music has adopted last years (of course it´s just my opinion). I was very hopeful when I listened “walk on frozen water” (wonderful) and even “grievous angel” (very nice), but new ones doesn´t sound like that. I miss your graceful english pop style, and your clasic and jazz arrangements. I dont´t mean that this new songs are bad (they aren´t) but I really find them more predictable and less emotional. I insist it’s just my opinion. Anyway, thank you for the free downloads and keep on making music. Of course, I´ll buy the new album in September, as a matter of loyalty (I´ve got almost everything you’ve done since “hey presto” or “more than the sun”), and hope for the best of it. receives an affectionate greeting from Spain and I apologize for my poor English.
Hearing Colin’s new songs is like getting a personal letter from a lost friend we know we’ll never see again because of geographical distance : this is sadness & comfort simultaneously. Internet is the answer for free musicians : I’m ready to pay back 25 euros directly to CV instead of bying a CD in stores and Colin only gets 5% (how can you explain such an exploitation?). I’d be ready to pay for five albums a year, for the Peel sessions, for gigs, for CV’s paintings and poems. Smoke Up Close was a fantastic idea. Next challenge : 50 new songs in 5 months…
Keep listening folks
The more your play the album the better it gets
Loving Beneath The Radar & No Second Chances at the moment.
Now think that No Second Chances is better than Walking on Frozen Water and a highlight of the album
Oh, and starting to love Naked
In short, tell everyone you know to give Colin a go. Spread the Word.
The more I listen to it, the more I think it’s really a gift to my ears. “Beneath the radar” is absolutely the star and “No second chances” is like going into fresh water in a hot hot day.
I can’t wait to September to see what Colin is cooking but it is smelling well.
Best wishes.
Thank you, oh, thank you!
Thank you very much,Colin, for the release of ‘the long awaited’ album and it is certainly worth the wait! I fell in love with two of the tracks instantly:Beneath the Radar and No Second Chances and have been dazzled since then.As I listen to the album,I am beginning to discover new gems though…liking Chapter and Verse more and more…I personally like hearing your voice above all the instruments and backing vocals as your voice on its own is the sweetest music on earth one can ever get to hear.
Please keep up your fantastic work and know that it is fully appreciated.
Loads of love
Figen
“Black” I heard on his first. You still have two original audio tapes, his two albums issued by us. And then more I could get to his music until last year thanks to the Internet, of course. I can not describe the joy which again can hear his music. Of course, the new album and I’m delighted.
P.S. Me, and I’m looking forward to see what that Serbia has more people who hear this music, I would like to meet them in person.
P.S.S. Gentlemen from Serbia in order to be piped to Black on a festival in Serbia, for instance Exit to guitar or art festival?

Mr. Colin Thank you for your beautiful Music, let your God kept!
Great songs Colin…thanks for being there for me to listen to for so many years! I have to say ‘wow’ to ‘Breathing Underwater’ – for me this is so ‘unblack’ yet so fresh and enjoyable – my favourite. Each album gives me a couple of timeless tracks and this is certainly joining that list (most recent additions prior were Cold Chicken Skin & Single Black Spot.
On another note, I hope if Grevious Angel is not on the new album that it becomes available again as I missed out first time round.
Also hope to see you perform live again one day, I watched you in the ‘heady’ days in Deal (if memory serves) and London a few years ago. I just missed out when you supported The Christians in Camberley (I am forever gutted as it’s local to me).
I also have an idea for you…another day maybe as I’ve taken up too much bandwidth already…
Take care
Gary
