Tonight’s venue – The Woodend in Glasgow – a bowling and badminton club in the Jordanhill area of the city. An interesting venue – the dressing rooms being shared space with the changing rooms for the club….which led to some curious meetings, sights and smells in the run up to the gig….!

after the spring sun in glasgow and hailstones in manchester we’re back in sunshine in liverpool….huh?A near full house and great  sound means we happened on stage pretty much as we intend to….audience  enjoyed themselves big time (they told me afterwards!)

Great to meet a bunch of old school mates i haven’t seen in 32years in the bar.Sorry for it to be so ‘hi’ and ‘bye’!

Black Live Spring Tour 2013 – Stockton from Nero Schwarz on Vimeo.

Our trip to Stockton seemed to collide with the end of everyone else’s Easter Holiday, and a bout of torrential rain over the M25 and M1. The journey up wasn’t as swift as we’d have liked… but we arrived at around 6, loaded in and began the soundcheck.

The Georgian Theatre is a stone’s throw from the river Tees in Stockton. The gig was promoted by Steve and Barry from Big Figure Promotions. They both ensured we were all well looked after from start to finish.

As well as Liz Lawrence, we also had support from sus2 - a local band – with bags of support and enthusiasm.

Again – after the set, there was a big queue formed to speak to both Colin and Calum. A quick pack up and back to the local digs before a much quicker return south the next day.

Roll on Sold out Glasgow!

thx to everyone sending msgs of appreciation after portsmouth and stockton….hey we’re just getting warmed up!Lovely to meet so many people with deep intense attachments to what i do (even from way back!lol).Sure ‘ll recover from that high stool on stage (but the coccyx is bruised i tell ya!!!)

Black Live Spring Tour 2013 – Eastney from Nero Schwarz on Vimeo.

A trip down to the South Coast to begin the Spring 2013 tour.

The day started off with a trip to The Music Room in Portsmouth for a quick in-store performance of a couple of tunes. Thanks to David and all of the staff at the Music Room for their hospitality. This was followed by a swift wander around the harbour-side, then off to the venue.

The Cellars in Eastney is a bijou venue, not far from the Water’s Edge – appropriate given the title of the first track on the new EP 2. There was a classic rock band gigging in the afternoon, but our load in followed this.

Dinner was due to the strains of the QPR – Wigan match on the TV in the pub followed by the soundcheck. The first night of the tour meant a slightly longer soundcheck than usual. Calum has some new goodies on his pedal board, and we’re using a new 2 – channel DI for Colin’s guitars.

The support on this tour is once again Liz Lawrence. She has had a bit of a trek to make it to Eastney. Saturday night saw her playing the  Music V Cancer weekender in Hartlepool – curated by our friend Tony Larkin.

Then came the set itself – which I won’t go into detail about, so not as to spoil it for anyone else joining us later on the tour. Here’s a few pictures from the evening:

I was around to record and film a few bits from the gig, and am happy what I came away with. I’ll also be at a few other gigs on the tour – hopefully keeping everyone updated via the new site,

After the show there was a healthy interest in the merch’ table – CV appearing to sign a few CDs, a few LPs and have a chat over a Guinness.

Thanks again to Steve and Ben and the staff at The Cellars. They have at least 5 live music events a week, along with theatre and comedy.

Next – up to Stockton on Friday.
